Fans to return to international cricket with Australia-NZ women’s series

Fans will be able to attend an international cricket match for the first time in six months after details were announced of a women’s series between Australia and New Zealand.

A limited number of tickets will be on sale for the Twenty20 and one-day international fixtures, which will be held at Allan Border Field in Brisbane. Fans will be able to purchase a maximum of six tickets through Ticketek, with no box office sales on match days.

Admission will be A$15 (£8.48/€9.21/$10.94), with children aged 15 and under able to attend for free. Multi-day tickets for the six-match series will also be made available.

Allan Border Field, which usually seats 2,500 fans, will be split into six zones and operate at 50 per cent of its capacity in line with Queensland Health and Government COVID-19 requirements. Fans are advised to stay 1.5 metres apart, wash their hands and use sanitiser regularly.

The series begins with three T20 matches on September 26, 27 and 30, before three one-day internationals on October 3, 5 and 7.

Fans have not attended international cricket in Australia since the final of the T20 World Cup at the Melbourne Cricket Ground back in March. The last international match held anywhere with fans was on March 11, when Bangladesh faced Zimbabwe in a T20 fixture.

A limited number of fans have begun attending club fixtures in England as part of pilot events held to gauge the possibility of a wider return of spectators, but all international matches have so far been held behind closed doors.
