Football stadium to feature in new £100m Stroud business park

Green energy businessman Dale Vince has said that a football stadium will form a key part of a new £100m (€117.1m/$123.9m) business park development in Stroud, England.

The ‘Gateway to Stroud’ project is at an early stage and is yet to receive approval, but the launch of the initiative attracted over 100 businesses and Vince, founder of Ecotricity, is hoping to push ahead with plans this summer.

Vince is also chairman of Forest Green Rovers, the English National League football club that would play at the stadium, should the plans gain approval.

Forest Green has played homes games at The New Lawn since 2006.

Details of the stadium are yet to be announced, but the BBC has reported that the Gateway to Stroud site would cover an area of 100 acres and include a new dual carriageway on the nearby A419 road, as well as a “green technology hub”.
