Tech Stack: PNC Arena, London Stadium and more

High-capacity lens antenna provider MatSing has installed its technology at PNC Arena, the home of the Carolina Hurricanes NHL ice hockey franchise. A total of 12 antennas have been installed, providing low-band and mid-band mobile connectivity across the venue. The network, covering the stands and floor, ensures that a capacity crowd of 18,680 will be able to receive 5G signals from their carriers during games. MatSing CEO Bo Larsson said: “MatSing’s lens antenna technology is known to exceed connectivity expectations by providing industry-leading network performance, as evidenced by our presence in 50% of NFL stadiums and 35% of NBA and NHL arenas combined.”

English Premier League football club West Ham United has launched a new audio descriptive commentary system at London Stadium. The new system, delivered in partnership with the Disabled Supporters Association, is a much-improved digital service that will provide an enhanced matchday experience for partially and visually impaired supporters. This update also means the service can reach the complete range of the 62,500-capacity London Stadium. West Ham launched its previous audio descriptive commentary service more than two decades ago.

Italian Serie A football club AC Milan has kicked off a new partnership with digital fan engagement platform Fanblock. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase ‘Fanblocks’ that represent blocks of Milan’s digital pitch and then earn ‘block points’ for real-time match events that happen on their portion of the playing surface. Fans will be rewarded with prizes for engaging on the platform. The partnership is focused on Milan’s worldwide fan base, with many of the club’s followers unable to attend games at the San Siro.

German Bundesliga football club Borussia Dortmund has extended a partnership with energy supplier DEW21 through to 2030, renewing a deal that began in 2020. Under the agreement, the two parties have committed to enhancing sustainability at Signal Iduna Park through cutting-edge energy technology solutions.
