NFL’s Buccaneers unveil virtual reality experience to showcase stadium renovation

NFL American football franchise the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has released details of a new virtual reality experience that will give supporters a comprehensive look at the development of the team’s Raymond James Stadium home ground.

The visualisation – entitled ‘The New Raymond James Stadium Experience’ – will feature a dedicated ‘PreView Center’ space at the team’s training facility.

The space will give supporters a virtual reality tour of the more than $140m worth of enhancements at Raymond James Stadium. Buccaneers player Jameis Winston and team reporter Casey Phillips will host the presentation, which requires guests to wear on Oculus Rift VR headset.

Among the stadium’s new attractions are two videoboard displays and an all-inclusive Hall of Fame club.

PreView Center will also feature an interactive touch screen, a compare-and-contrast function that highlights the stadium’s new features, and renderings of the Hall of Fame club and luxury suites.

“The addition of 'The New Raymond James Stadium Experience' allows us to showcase all of the exciting changes that are taking place in preparation for the upcoming season,” Buccaneers chief operating officer Brian Ford said. “While there’s nothing quite like attending a Buccaneers game in person at Raymond James Stadium, the PreView Center, through the use of innovative technology, allows us to simulate the experience and provide potential members with a great representation of what they can look forward to this fall.”

The Buccaneers also launched a website dedicated to the stadium’s redevelopment. NewBucsGameDay.com will feature updates, 360-degree tours, fly-through videos and renderings.

The first stage of the renovation will be complete in time for the start of the 2016 NFL season in September.
