Digital concessions predicted to become commonplace in sports arenas

Digital concessions could be commonplace in sports venues before long, according to a senior industry executive.

In an interview with the Tech.co website, Michelle Palmer, president of sports and experiential at The Marketing Arm consumer engagement agency, said advances in technology have led to fans being able to “digitally cheer” for their team.

Palmer said: “Better venue experiences (are had) via technology that allows you to order and receive concessions at your seat, or technology in stadiums that interacts with your mobile device so you can digitally cheer for your team and share it with the crowd.”

A number of start-ups are already experimenting with digital concessions, such as SnagMobile, Bypass and Yorder. SnagMobile has trialled the technology at minor league venues in New York and Ohio.
