Eden Park says ‘I do’ with wedding venue service

New Zealand’s largest stadium, Eden Park, has launched a wedding venue service at the iconic Auckland facility, where brides and grooms will be able to tie the knot in the changing room of the legendary All Blacks.

The Change Room Chapel is open now for wedding or vow renewal bookings. According to the stadium’s operators, the chapel will be of interest to “locals and internationals looking for a short lead time wedding venue that provides the ultimate off-field event”.

Available dates include Valentine’s Day, St. Patrick’s Day, April Fools’ Day, Friday the 13th and the anniversary of the All Blacks’ Rugby World Cup victories in 1987 and 2011.

A basic package, starting at NZ$795 (£417/€470/$576) plus a 15-per-cent Goods and Services Tax, includes access to the chapel, classic wedding entry and exit music, the ceremony, Champagne for bride and groom, a personalised certificate and access to the pitch for photos of the bride and groom.

The chapel can also assist with bouquets and flowers, a videographer, professional photographer, chapel themes and team jerseys.

There are also numerous function rooms at the stadium that can host receptions of various sizes, with on-site catering options also available.

“For many, sport has been a religion, and to combine memorable sporting moments with a couple’s special day at New Zealand’s national stadium will guarantee a truly unique wedding day,” Eden Park chief executive Nick Sautner said.

“Although our core business will always be events, due to current council restrictions as both our regulator and competitor, Eden Park will continue to explore new ideas that then can be implemented at other iconic venues globally.”

Couples can find out more information by contacting info@edenpark.co.nz.

Nick Sautner will be speaking at TheStadiumBusiness Summit at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester on June 12-13. To find out more about the programme for the event, please click here.
