Canada’s first esports stadium set for Vancouver

Plans have been confirmed to open Canada’s first esports-specific stadium in the city of Vancouver next year.

‘The Gaming Stadium’ will be custom-built to provide a venue for players of all ages to compete in and watch events throughout the year.

Planned features for the facility include a large main gaming stage with seating for up to 250 spectators, as well as a gaming area with more than 40 set-ups, a casual area for players, full broadcast facility and various food and beverage offerings.

Dan Cybak, chief executive of Myesports Ventures, the Vancouver-based group that is heading up the project, said the new venue will “change the landscape of esports in Vancouver”,

“We have been working hard to get this off the ground,” Cybak said. “Our team is made up of people who have been organising and participating in tournaments in this city for years.

“We have built a group that covers all aspects of esports. This facility is truly built by gamers for gamers.

“We have so much in store for everyone and we are excited to continue making announcements leading up to launch.”

Matthew Low, chief operating officer of Myesports Ventures, added: “We are focused on more than top-level players or hosting major events.

“We are aiming to cultivate the next great gamers as we will be holding leagues for all skill levels while also offering coaching for those who want to take their skills to the next level.

“We are going to be the Little League, Junior League and Major League home of all things esports in Vancouver.”
