UK arenas pump up the volume with Deezer

Music streaming service Deezer has signed partnerships with two of the UK’s leading venues, Manchester Arena and the SSE Hydro Glasgow.

The partnerships are designed to enhance the music experience for concert-goers at the two venues.

As Manchester Arena’s official streaming partner, Deezer will curate and create a selection of relevant playlists with special content, with these playlists to be made available through the venue’s website, accessible via customer emails and across social media.

The arena said the playlists are designed to help fans “get in the mood” ahead of gigs, discover new bands and relive the experience of a gig they have attended. A Deezer-sponsored Wi-Fi service will also be introduced at the venue later in the year.

Phil Moore, Deezer’s vice-president of Northern & Southern EMEA, said: “Our partnership with Manchester Arena makes music fans’ experience much richer by providing relevant and exciting content and connectivity. We want to encourage people to discover even more amazing music, both before and after they see their favourite artists.”

James Allen, general manager for Manchester Arena, added: “We are proud of our partnership with Deezer, it is such a natural fit bringing together two key growth areas of music industry and highlights our dedication to enhancing customer experience. We are excited to be paving the way for greater connectivity with the installation of a brand new Deezer-sponsored WiFi system, which will be operational this autumn across the whole arena for music fans to enjoy.”

Meanwhile, through the SSE Hydro’s partnership with Deezer, guests will be able to visit the arena’s website to access a range of artist-focused playlists. The playlists will serve a similar purpose to Manchester Arena’s playlists. The arena’s multi-year partnership with Deezer is effective immediately.

Ross Easton, head of commercial at the SSE Hydro, said: “Their specially curated playlists will give fans a new way to experience artists before they see them live on the Hydro stage – they can listen to the newest music, relive the classics and share the pre-gig excitement! This platform will bring an added layer to what it means to attend an event here.”
