Oakland A’s to launch kids play area at Coliseum

Major League Baseball team the Oakland Athletics is to open a new area for children and families at the Coliseum this season.

The A’s Stomping Ground will be incorporated into the East Side Club. The A’s said it will be a “fun and interactive space” and provide children with an area to have fun without sacrificing the view of the game for adults.

The inside section of the space will be fitted with a stage and video wall for interactive events, while a digital experience will give young fans the chance to race against their favourite players or Stomper, the team’s mascot.

Other features of the A’s Stomping Ground will be replica dugouts, a simulated hitting and pitching machine, foosball and a photo booth. The outside area will feature elephant structures, play areas, an AstroTurf grassy seating area, drink rails for parents, and picnic tables.

A miniature baseball field and a spiderweb play area will be added to the area over the course of the coming season. The space will also include a dedicated kids retail stand and concessions with healthy and kid-friendly items.

Fans can purchase an A’s Stomping Ground Family Pass for a full season subscription of $399 (£305/€356) or a monthly subscription fee of $79 per month during the season.
