Appointments round-up: Leicester Tigers, TicketWorld, Minnesota Vikings and more

This week saw English Premiership rugby union club Leicester Tigers appoint Andrea Pinchen to the new role of chief operating officer.

Pinchen (pictured) joined the club from Emirates Airlines in 2004 as its ticket office manager before becoming commercial manager in 2012, overseeing sponsorship, corporate hospitality and the Tigers’ conference and events business. Two years later, she joined the board as commercial director.

In her new role, Pinchen will drive the development of key people within the club.

TEG has announced John Maclang as the new general manager of Philippines-facing ticketing provider TicketWorld.

Maclang has led technology and e-commerce platforms as a country manager in the Philippines and most recently worked for Hotel Link.

TEG also announced that Bob Sewell will retire as TicketWorld chief executive this month. Sewell founded TicketWorld in 1995 and oversaw the company’s rise, which led to its acquisition by TEG last year.

The Minnesota Vikings NFL American football team has named Andrew Miller as its new chief operating officer.

Miller will replace Kevin Warren, who was recently announced as the commissioner of the Big Ten US college sport conference. Miller will begin his new role on September 1.

Miller joins after leading business operations at the Toronto Blue Jays Major League Baseball team for the last four seasons. He oversaw all business operations for the team and its Rogers Centre ballpark, with a focus on enhancing the fan experience and fan engagement.

Live Nation Finland has announced Tomi Saarinen as its new chief executive.

Saarinen, who formerly worked at Sony Music Finland, will be based out of Live Nation’s Helsinki office in his new role. He will replace outgoing chief executive Nina Castrén, who is stepping down for health reasons.

The Toronto Wolfpack rugby league team, which competes in the English Championship, has named Robert Hunter as its chairman and interim chief executive.

Hunter helped shape the operational infrastructure at major stadia in Canada such as Ontario Place in Toronto and BC Place in Vancouver. He also provided direction and leadership on the SkyDome Stadium project and later served as executive vice-president and general manager of Scotiabank Arena, home of the Toronto Raptors.

Hunter is also a former Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment executive and oversaw the construction of BMO Field, home of Toronto FC.

Tom Ewald has taken up a new role as chief revenue officer at promoter software startup Prism.fm.

Ewald is a former vice-president of music at Eventbrite. In his new role, he will head up sales at Prism.fm, which licenses software that helps venues and promoters centralise their data and revenue streams with tools that assist artist offers, calendar management and show settlements.
