CFR Cluj poised for lucrative stadium deal with drone manufacturer

Drone manufacturing company Electric Visionary Aircraft (EVA) is set to sign a lucrative sponsorship deal with CFR Cluj that will incorporate naming rights to the Romanian Liga I football club’s stadium.

CFR is the reigning Liga I champion and currently leads this season’s championship. Officials from the club told Romanian media outlet Mediafax that EVA will sign a three-year contract next week that will be worth €27m (£23m/$30m).

The deal will see CFR’s Stadionul Dr. Constantin Rădulescu renamed as the EVA Arena.

The club officials said: “The sponsorship contract with Electric Visionary Aircraft (EVA) drone manufacturer will be signed next week and an official presentation will take place.

“The value of the contract is €27m over three years – namely €7m in the first year, followed by €9m and €11m. The contract is conditional on the team qualifying for European competitions.”

CFR has played at Stadionul Dr. Constantin Rădulescu, which has a current capacity of around 23,500, since 1973.
