Lumen Field, home of the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks and Major League Soccer franchise Seattle Sounders, is set for a number of upgrades to coincide with its 20th anniversary celebrations.
The Seahawks will work with First & Goal Inc. to carry out the upgrades, which will look to modernise various areas throughout the stadium.
The projects will be carried out over the next three years and will include new ‘Cityside Bars’ that will offer premium views of the pitch. The two bars, which will be nearly 40 feet wide, will be located in the north end of the stadium and will be open to all fans on game days during the 2022 NFL season.
Additionally, two new video boards will be fitted at the north end of Lumen Field as part of plans to significantly enhance the fan experience. The Mitsubishi Pixel Pitch Diamond Vision displays will be more than double the size of the previous video boards and are set to be fitted in time for the Seahawks’ season opener.
Concession enhancements are also planned in the upper concourse area of Lumen Field. An area titled District Market will be added in the south end of the upper level behind the Toyota Fan Deck, offering a more modern, open food and beverage experience with the opportunity for checkout-free transaction technologies. The space will also feature food from the stadium’s community neighbours in Seattle’s International District.
Additional projects scheduled for 2023 and 2024 will be announced in the future and will include a new tunnel club, a premium offering that will provide Seahawks fans with a ticketed pre-game hospitality club adjacent to the home locker room. The club will also feature all-inclusive premium food and beverage options.
Lumen Field’s Verizon Lounge will also undergo numerous renovations, including the creation of two standing room open-air decks with views of the pitch, a new premium bar and general upgrades to finishes throughout the area.
Chuck Arnold, president of the Seahawks and First & Goal Inc., said: “As we celebrate 20 years of incredible sports and entertainment events at Lumen Field, we are thrilled to re-imagine and transform our guest experience.
“We’re calling these upgrades ‘fanovation’ – where our fans and their experience are at the forefront of our decisions. We are excited for our guests to see several new innovative projects come to life at Lumen Field over the next three years.”
Lumen Field, formerly known as CenturyLink Field, opened on July 20, 2002. In celebration of the stadium’s 20th anniversary, Lumen Field’s social media channels will celebrate significant anniversary dates, such as the first games for the Seahawks, Sounders and National Women’s Soccer League team OL Reign, which also plays at the venue.
