Fiserv Forum, home of the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks, will host its first-ever NHL game in October when the Chicago Blackhawks face the Minnesota Wild in a pre-season fixture.
The game on October 2 will mark the first NHL fixture in Milwaukee since 1993 and will form part of the Blackhawks’ ‘Home Away from Home’ series.
The last time the Blackhawks played in Milwaukee was on December 1, 1992 when the team faced off against the Los Angeles Kings in a regular-season game at Bradley Center, the Bucks’ former home.
Bradley Center was a regular host of NHL regular-season and pre-season games between 1988 and 1993. Fiserv Forum opened in 2018 and October will mark the first NHL game at the venue. The Blackhawks are the closest NHL team to Milwaukee.
Peter Feigin, president of the Bucks and Fiserv Forum, said: “We are excited to host the first NHL game at Fiserv Forum and welcome the return of NHL hockey to Milwaukee for the first time since 1993. We look forward to hosting the Blackhawks and Wild as we continue to bring a variety of dynamic events to Fiserv Forum.”
Jaime Faulkner, president of business operations at the Blackhawks, added: “We are excited to bring the Blackhawks experience to our fans out of Chicago, and we can’t think of a better place to start than our incredible neighbours to the north. We’re hard at work designing a game-day fans won’t want to miss as the first NHL team to bring a game to Fiserv Forum in partnership with the Milwaukee Bucks and BMO.”
Major League Baseball’s Milwaukee Brewers and the NFL’s Green Bay Packers are also due to play at home on October 2. “If you’re a sports fan then catch some baseball, watch an NHL game, and top it all off with the Packers game,” Feigin said.
The Blackhawks game day will feature celebrity appearances, live music, photo opportunities and more at the Deer District. Tickets for the game go on sale tomorrow (Friday).
