ASM Global has announced three new hires as it seeks to expand the leverage of its worldwide portfolio of stadiums, arenas and other venues.

Bryce G. Townsend (pictured left) has been named senior vice-president of commercial partnerships, Kevin Dent (pictured centre) will take up the role of vice-president of sponsorship sales and business development, and Emily Wilson (pictured right) has been appointed director of marketing solutions.

Townsend has previously held executive leadership roles at GroupM, Momentum Worldwide and the Drone Racing League, while Dent has had various sports and lifestyle corporate sponsorship roles with the likes of AT&T, NBA, MLS, the Olympics and Host Communications.

Wilson joins ASM Global from Dotdash Meredith, America’s largest digital and print publisher, having previously worked at Time Inc. and Universal McCann.

Axel Hellmann and Oliver Leki have been appointed chief executives of the German Football League (DFL) after Donata Hopfen resigned from the role after less than a year.

Hopfen took up the role on January 1 after previously serving as managing director and partner at BCG Digital Ventures. In doing so, she became the first female chief executive of the DFL, but she will be stepping down from the role at the end of the year by mutual consent due to differing ideas about the future strategic direction of the governing body.

Hellman and Leki will act as joint chief executives of the DFL on an interim basis until June 30, 2023. Hellman is the chief executive and member of the board at Eintracht Frankfurt, as well as a member of the DFL executive committee, while Leki is a member of the board at SC Freiburg and deputy chairman of the supervisory board of the DFL.

Holger Hohrein has been appointed chief financial officer of ticketing services and live entertainment company CTS Eventim.

Hohrein will take up the role on January 1 and joins CTS Eventim from PEAC Finance, where he served as chief finance officer and chief risk officer. He has previously worked at management consultancy McKinsey, online bank Comdirect, and financial technology company Deposit Solutions.

He will take over from Andreas Grandinger, who has been responsible for finance for three years and will be stepping down from CTS Eventim’s executive board when his contract ends on December 31.

Patsy Reddy has become the first female chair of New Zealand Rugby and will replace Stewart Mitchell, who is stepping down from the role after nine years on the board.

Reddy was appointed to the NZR board in April and served as New Zealand’s Governor General from 2016 to 2021. She was named a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to the arts and business and a Grand Companion of the Order in 2016 for services to the nation.

Mitchell will step down as chair on January 31 to take some downtime and invest more time in his other business interests. He was elected chair in May 2021 after joining the NZR board in 2014.

England’s Rugby Football League has appointed Tony Sutton as its interim chief executive until the appointment of a permanent successor to Ralph Rimmer.

Sutton has been the RFL’s chief operating officer since January 2019 and joined the governing body in 2017 as director of finance and facilities. He previously worked at Hull FC and Hull College Group.

Rimmer announced in September that he would be leaving the RFL at the end of 2022.
