English League Two football club Morecambe has renewed its stadium naming-rights deal with mobile phone recycling company Mazuma.

As part of the new agreement, the venue’s name will officially change from Mazuma Stadium to Mazuma Mobile Stadium. The length of the new deal was not disclosed.

Mazuma, which is based in Morecambe, signed a three-year deal to take on naming rights to the club’s stadium back in August 2020. The 6,400-seat venue was previously known as the Globe Arena for 10 years through an agreement with Globe Construction.

Martin Thomas, head of commercial at Morecambe, said: “Firstly, I want to extend my thanks and gratitude to Craig (Smith, Mazuma managing director) and the team at Mazuma. Over the last few years, we have managed to build a very strong relationship which is reflected in this new agreement.

“Mazuma have been an integral partner of the football club and are a well-recognised and respected tech recycling brand here in the UK. On behalf of the football club, we thank Mazuma for continuing their commitment to MFC and supporting the journey of our club.”

Mazuma has been in operation for over 18 years. The company buys and sells mobile phones, tablets, smart watches, laptops and games consoles.

Morecambe was relegated from the third-tier League One last season after finishing 22nd in the table.

In other news, Scottish Championship club Partick Thistle has announced that electric vehicle purchasing platform Wyre will take on naming rights to its Firhill stadium.

The three-year deal officially rebranded the venue as Wyre Hill Stadium at Firhill. Wyre sponsored Partick Thistle during the 2022-23 season and the company has now stepped up its support for the club.

As part of the new agreement, each time a car is leased and a Wyre Stadium at Firhill referral code is mentioned, £250 (€291/$319) will go back into the club, split equally between the men’s and women’s teams.
