The NBA basketball league has announced that Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors, will host its All-Star Game in 2025.

The game will take place on February 16, 2025. It will mark the first time the event has taken place at Chase Center, which opened in 2019.

The wider San Francisco Bay Area will host other All-Star events throughout the week. Moscone Convention Center, Oakland Arena and the Warriors’ Oakland facility will also be utilised. Oakland Arena hosted the NBA All-Star back in 2000.

The announcement was made yesterday (Monday) during a press conference at Chase Center, which was attended by NBA commissioner Adam Silver, Warriors co-executive chairman and chief executive Joe Lacob, Warriors co-executive chairman Peter Guber, Warriors president and chief operating officer Brandon Schneider, and San Francisco Mayor London Breed.

Lacob said: “It has been 25 years since the NBA All-Star Game was played in the San Francisco Bay Area, and we are delighted to bring the NBA’s marquee event to Chase Center in 2025. In addition to the significant economic impact and tourism business that NBA All-Star will drive, we look forward to hosting various events in San Francisco and Oakland to bring together basketball fans from all over the world.”

Breed added: “San Francisco is honoured that the 2025 NBA All-Star game will be coming to our incredible city. Major sporting events like this bring excitement to our city and generate significant economic activity that creates jobs and support for our small businesses.

“We are proud to be home to an organisation like the Golden State Warriors that not only provides thrills to all of our amazing fans night after night at Chase Center, but is a great partner to our city and supporter of communities across San Francisco.”

On-court events at Chase Center will begin on February 14 with NBA Rising Stars, an annual showcase for top rookies and second-year NBA players. The fourth NBA HBCU Classic will take place on February 15 featuring men’s basketball programmes from two historically Black colleges and universities, followed by the All-Star Saturday Night which will feature the Skills Challenge, the 3-Point Contest and the Slam Dunk.

The NBA will organise a full schedule of community engagement events during the All-Star week, partnering with schools, local and national non-profit organisations, and youth basketball programmes.

Next year’s All-Star Game will take place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the Indiana Pacers, on February 18. The night before, NBA All-Star Saturday Night will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts.
