David French has started his new role as chief executive of Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

French (pictured) assumed the position last Monday, taking over from Martin Murphy who retired at the end of September. French previously worked as director of venue at Manchester United, general manager of Shanghai’s Mercedes-Benz Arena, and most recently as interim customer and growth director for transport for Greater Manchester.

Prior to French assuming the role, Vincent Murphy acted as interim stadium director at Aviva Stadium, which serves as the home of Ireland’s rugby union and football teams.

AI-based weapons detection security screening firm Evolv Technology has appointed Courtney Cunnane as its chief marketing officer.

Cunnane joins Evolv from software company SmartBear, where she served as senior vice-president of growth marketing and demand generation. She previously led marketing at Experian Data Quality for nearly a decade.

Evolv’s technology is used by a number of leading sports venues, including SoFi Stadium and Target Field.

World Rugby has appointed Denise Taylor and Sean Summers to the board of its Events Company subsidiary as independent non-executive directors.

Taylor and Summers will lend their expertise to upcoming Rugby World Cups, with Summers joining the local operating company (LOC) board for the 2025 women’s event in England, and Taylor joining the LOC board for the 2027 men’s tournament in Australia.

Taylor previously worked for Legends and AEG. While at AEG, Taylor launched AEG-IT, a consulting arm focused on designing and operating state-of-the-art stadiums and venues.

Summers joins the board while maintaining his role as executive vice-president of Mercado Libre, Latin America’s largest ecommerce and fintech ecosystem, where he also serves as chief marketing officer.

Ticketing technology provider Spektrix has appointed Jonathan Peters as client success team manager.

Peters previously spent 10 years at website building and hosting company Squarespace.
