Las Vegas’ Michelob Ultra Arena will host a tennis exhibition match between Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz on March 3, with the event to be streamed live on Netflix.

The Netflix Slam will stream as a dual broadcast for English and Spanish-speaking markets, with additional players and match-ups to be announced at a later date.

Michelob Ultra Arena has a capacity of 12,000 and was formerly known as the Mandalay Bay Events Center. The facility is owned by MGM Resorts International.

Tickets for the event will start at $88 (£70/€81), not including applicable service charges or fees. Tickets will go on sale on Friday.

The Netflix Slam marks the streaming service’s latest move into live sports coverage. Last month, it showed The Netflix Cup, a golf event featuring PGA Tour players and Formula 1 drivers.

Gabe Spitzer, vice-president of non-fiction sports at Netflix, said: “I’m thrilled that with The Netflix Slam, we can give our global audience an opportunity to watch two tennis greats battle each other in a one-of-a-kind live event. A legend like Rafa and a champion like Carlos together on the court, along with tons of other action, promises to be a live show fans won’t want to miss.”

Lance Evans, senior vice-president of sports and sponsorship at MGM Resorts International, added: “We anticipate The Netflix Slam at Mandalay Bay will be one of the most entertaining events of the year. Tennis fans worldwide will be treated to an unforgettable experience as two of the sport’s elite champions compete in the sports capital of the world.”
