Bangkok’s UOB Live has staged its opening event, an Ed Sheeran concert, as it seeks to deliver on its goal of becoming a world class entertainment venue for Southeast Asia.
The event, entitled ‘An Evening with Ed Sheeran’, witnessed the full debut of the 6,000-capacity venue, located in the Em District of the Thai capital. UOB Live is situated on the sixth floor of EmSphere, a new facility that offers a shopping outlet, restaurants and different entertainment spaces.
UOB Live has been developed by Thai retail and entertainment complex company The Mall, sports and entertainment group AEG and Asian banking group UOB. ASM Global is the managing operator of the venue.
Craig Grossarth, general manager of UOB Live, said: “We are thrilled with the success of Ed Sheeran’s extraordinary concert at UOB Live.
“True to providing an exceptional experience for both artists and audiences, we look forward to welcoming world-class artists, and many more talented Thai artists, in the near future. We are ready to be a centre for organising live entertainment events. To meet all the needs of organising events, every taste and preference.”
Singapore-headquartered UOB signed up as the naming-rights partner for the live sport, music and entertainment venue back in August. The deal was brokered by AEG Global Partnerships, the sponsorship division of AEG. It was the division’s first naming-rights deal since expanding into the Asia-Pacific region in October 2022.
AEG Global Partnerships announced last week that Bacardi and Volvo had signed deals to become the first founding partners at UOB Live.
