Wembley Stadium has today (Tuesday) revealed a series of upgrades focused on enhancing the fan experience, with improvements made to the concourse, hospitality areas and digital signage.
A brand-new frictionless bar has been added to enable supporters to purchase drinks quicker and more conveniently. Bar Tap is situated on level one of the stadium and will allow fans to tap their card on entry, pick up what they need and walk out without needing to wait.
The area will feature motion-detect cameras to track customer movements, calculate what they have purchased and debit their card on exit. Wembley is the first national stadium in Europe to introduce the frictionless retail service.
The concourse areas on levels one and five of the stadium have also been refreshed with new murals and artwork celebrating Wembley’s history. Two screens at either end of Wembley, and the digital ribbon which runs around the stadium bowl, have also been upgraded to incorporate the latest digital technology.
Digital signage and wayfinding have also been improved to help fans navigate around the stadium more easily. The upgrades, which were made over the winter period, have been unveiled ahead of this Sunday’s Carabao Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea.
Later this year, Wembley will host the UEFA Champions League final, England matches, and concerts from the likes of Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen, Green Day and AC/DC. Swift will play eight sold-out shows at Wembley, with three nights scheduled in June and five in August.
Chris Bryant, director of tournaments and events at Wembley, said: “Wembley Stadium has a regular schedule of investment works to maintain industry leading facilities that attract world-class events and enhance spectators’ experience.
“We are always looking at new, and innovative ways to ensure Wembley Stadium maintains its status as an iconic, multi-purpose venue. We want all our guests to have the best experience possible.”
