West Ham United vice-chairwoman Karren Brady says work on the Olympic Stadium is on schedule “to the very day” ahead of the English Premier League football club’s move to the ground.
The club’s first game at the venue, officially known as London Stadium, is against Slovenian side NK Domžale in the Uefa Europa League on August 4. West Ham’s first Premier League game at the stadium is against Bournemouth on August 21.
In an open letter to supporters on West Ham’s website, Brady confirmed that the ground would operate at a capacity of 54,000 for the Europa League fixture, before a full-capacity 60,000 is admitted against Bournemouth.
Brady also said the stadium’s lower tiers would feature club branding once the complete seating solution is in place.
“Likewise, the world-class stadium wrap will be in place for the first Premier League fixture, against Bournemouth, with Europe’s largest digital screen embedded into the wrap and fully operational for the Hammers’ meeting with Sunderland in October,” she added.
Stadium wi-fi will be installed stage-by-stage over a number of months. Brady expects the process to be finished later this year.
West Ham has sold over 52,000 season tickets for the upcoming campaign.
