Riot Games opens new esports arena in Korea

US video game developer Riot Games has opened a new esports arena in the Korean capital of Seoul.

The Korea Herald newspaper reported that Riot Games has invested 100 billion won (£67m/€76m/$89m) into the complex, which will be known as LoL Park after the company’s League of Legends title.

The space will feature a 400-capacity arena for League of Legends players. The complex has already been pencilled into host next month’s LoL World Championship, while it will also become the permanent home of the LoL Champions Korea event.

The Herald added that Riot Games Korea has also created a fan meeting zone at the complex, along with designated spaces for coaches and players. Other features include a PC café with state-of-the-art computers and high-speed internet.

The space is set to fully open by January following next month’s LoL World Championship.
