Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium is set to benefit from improved 4G mobile connectivity after wireless telecommunications company Cellnex Telecom deployed a Distributed Antenna System (DAS) at the venue.
Vodafone and O2 customers attending matches at the Etihad will be the first to benefit from the enhanced experience, with other operators set to be connected in the future. The upgrades will ensure the the club app, messaging, social media and video calling and streaming work seamlessly for fans on match days.
The enhanced connectivity had been due to be in place for City’s home fixture against West Ham United yesterday (Sunday) but the match was called off due to bad weather.

This project will allow all those that visit our stadium to benefit from reliable 4G, as well as the prospect of even faster 5G signal when it is available on their devices. We know how important connectivity is to our fans and we are constantly looking for new ways for them to capture and share their experiences at the Etihad Stadium.”
Cellnex has made similar investments at venues across Europe, including Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano, Milan’s San Siro, Turin’s Allianz Stadium and the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
