People on the move: Yorkshire CCC, UEFA and more

Yorkshire County Cricket Club has announced that Lord Kamlesh Patel will step down as chair at its next annual general meeting in March.

Patel (pictured) joined the club in November 2021 following the resignation of former chairman Roger Hutton in the wake of the racism row over the treatment of former player Azeem Rafiq.

Yorkshire said that Patel has overseen a “significant period of change” at the club, culminating in international cricket returning to Headingley. Under Patel’s stewardship, Yorkshire also introduced a texting service for fans to report discriminatory behaviour.

Aleksander Čeferin is set to be re-elected as UEFA president at the governing body’s Ordinary Congress meeting in Lisbon on April 5.

Čeferin is the only candidate for the presidency and will serve a third four-year term. The Slovenian has served as president since 2016 and was re-elected unopposed in 2019.

Dane Murphy is stepping down as chief executive of Premier League football club Nottingham Forest by mutual consent to pursue other opportunities.

Murphy joined Forest in July 2021 after a two-year stint at Barnsley. During his time at Forest, the club secured promotion to the Premier League.

The NBA basketball league has appointed Lesley Slaton Brown as its chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer.

Slaton Brown will start her position on February 1 and report to Kyle Cavanaugh, the NBA’s president of administration. She will join the NBA from Hewlett-Packard, where she served as vice-president and chief diversity officer.

In her role at the NBA, Slaton Brown will be responsible for driving ongoing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts for the league and its teams.

Championship football club Bristol City has appointed Phil Alexander as its new chief executive.

Alexander will assume the role on February 1 and will take over from Richard Gould, who is leaving Bristol City to become chief executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board.

Alexander previously served as chief executive of Premier League club Crystal Palace for 26 years and recently worked as a senior advisor at League One outfit Wycombe Wanderers.

AMB Sports and Entertainment has announced five senior promotions across its portfolio, which includes the NFL’s Atlanta Falcons, Major League Soccer’s Atlanta United and Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

AMBSE chief executive Steve Cannon has been named chief vice chairman of the organisation. He will be replaced as chief executive by Rich McKay, who will continue in his role as chief executive of the Falcons.

Greg Beadles has also been promoted to president of the Falcons, while AMBSE chief revenue officer Tim Zulawski has been elevated toto president. Dietmar Exler has also been promoted to executive vice-president and chief operating officer of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Los Angeles Sparks WNBA basketball team has appointed Karen Bryant to the role of chief administrative officer and general manager.

Bryant will oversee business and basketball operations for the team. She previously spent 15 years at rival WNBA team Seattle Storm as chief operating officer, president and chief executive.

Bryant was hired by the Sparks in 2021 as a strategic advisor before taking on the role of interim president of business operations.
