The AEG Europe division of sports and entertainment company AEG has moved to bring together two of its London-based venues – The O2 and the SSE Arena, Wembley – to maximise their event potential.
The arenas will be able to cross-refer business where appropriate as part of the agreement.
Becci Thompson and Jo Peplow-Revell, The O2’s head of corporate sales and event sales coordinator, respectively, will seek to secure new business and additional revenue streams for the venues.
The O2 has a capacity of 20,000 and hosts a number of high-profile events, including the Brit Awards, the National Television Awards and the annual ATP Finals tennis tournament.
The smaller SSE Arena, Wembley has a capacity of 12,500 and regularly hosts X Factor auditions. It also recently hosted the MTV EMAs.
“It’s an exciting time for us as we look to grow the reputation of both venues as the go-to destinations for high-profile events,” Thompson said. “The venues have experienced teams, as well as the latest in event technology and state-of-the-art production. Now, as sister venues, it provides an unrivalled opportunity for us to cross-refer business and enhance the experience and opportunities we can offer clients.”
