Vegas esports venue to open on Friday

A 15,000-square-foot venue dedicated to esports is set to open in the US city of Las Vegas on Friday.

The venue, which features stands that will seat 200 people, as well as warm-up areas, large-scale video screens and a broadcast platform for commentators, is designed to host video games competitions that appeal to the so-called ‘millennial’ generation.

The arena will mirror a professional sports venue in that gamers will emerge from a tunnel at the beginning of an event before taking their seats on a podium where their station is located.

The first event scheduled for the venue, which will be open for casual gamers when official competitions are not being staged, is a Halo World Championship qualifier on Friday.
