Miral Asset Management has appointed BAM International to construct the new Yas Arena Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Yas Arena is set to become the first multi-purpose venue in Yas Island in the UAE capital city.
In June, plans for the new arena were unveiled, with the site designed to be able to expand from a 500-seat theatre into an 18,000-capacity venue. Also due to feature is an illuminated façade on the waterfront parade area of Yas Island.
BAM International, the operating company of Royal BAM Group, active outside Western Europe, will be familiar with Yas Island, having delivered various other major projects in the area, including the Crowne Plaza and Staybridge suites hotels.
Work on the arena began last month and Bam International expects to complete the project by November next year.
HOK, a global design, architecture, engineering and planning firm, has designed the new venue with support from Pascall+Watson. HOK has also designed the adjacent arena retail and dining area along the boardwalk.
Once open, Abu Dhabi events company Flash Entertainment will stage gigs and sports events inside Yas Arena. The venue has been designed so that it can host a wide array of events, ranging from tennis tournaments to wrestling matches.
