Bucks arena to feature gender-neutral bathrooms

Alex Lasry, senior vice-president for the Milwaukee Bucks, has confirmed that the NBA basketball team’s new arena will feature gender-neutral bathrooms.

The 17,500-seat Wisconsin Entertainment and Sports Center is due to open in autumn and it will be one of only a handful of NBA venues to offer gender-neutral bathrooms.

The TMJ4 website reported that, although gender-neutral bathrooms will only form a “small portion” of the arena’s toilet facilities, fans will be able to use them on “every level” of the arena.

“It’s trying to become a place that is welcoming and inviting to everybody,” Lasry said. “We’re happy to be one of the leaders. The only way that this arena is going to be successful is if the people coming here feel like they’re having the greatest experience of their lives.”

Responding to a fan’s tweet on the matter, Lasry posted: “You (sic) damn right we’ll have some gender neutral bathrooms.”

Earlier this week, the Bucks partnered with food and beverage provider Levy on a sustainability project for the WESC that will result in the arena not offering plastic straws. The venue will also use compostable food packaging as part of the initiative.
