Free in-stadia WiFi for fans at IAAF’s Doha 2019

Fans attending the IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019 will be able to enjoy free wireless internet through Ooredoo.

The International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF) has signed a partnership with the telecoms operator to allow spectators, athletes and support staff to be able to follow the competition from their mobile phones at the 48,000-capacity Khalifa International Stadium.

Qatar-based Ooredoo is one of the world’s largest mobile telecommunications companies, serving North Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia.

Dahlan al Hamad, IAAF vice president and general secretary for the IAAF World Athletics Championships Doha 2019, said: “Sport is about connecting people and bringing everybody together, sharing their love for the game. The IAAF World Athletics Championships will see more communities come together than ever before in Doha, which is an exciting milestone for Doha.”

The championships, which run from September 27 to October 6, has also signed a partnership with Qatar Airways to offer fans discounted airfares.

Customers looking to get money off their travel costs can use a discount code when booking flights through Qatar Airways.

As part of the agreement, the destination management division of Qatar Airways, Discover Qatar, has put together a range of travel packages that include flights, accommodation and tickets to the event.
