São Paulo FC inaugurated its new state-of-the-art LED ring ahead of this week’s Copa do Brasil semi-final against Corinthians.

The screen runs between the upper and lower tiers at the 67,000-capacity Estádio do Morumbi. Henko Produção, which led the development, claims it is Latin America’s largest LED ring.

As well as using the ring to display advertisements, it will perform light shows and blackouts before and between games.

São Paulo said the installation of the new screen will reduce maintenance costs accrued due to repairing its old static advertising boards.

“The club is confident that it will modernise its stadium, with a structural advancement that enhances the fan’s matchday experience,” the club said in a statement. “It offers new possibilities for advertising properties and marketing activities.”

Alexandre Henko, chief executive of Henko Produções, said: “A pioneer in LED panels at shows in Brazil, a project like this was missing that would put Henko on the OOH [out-of-home] media showcase in Brazil. Working with the club has been a perfect marriage.”
