Manchester United has announced the appointment of Omar Berrada, who currently serves as chief football operations officer for City Football Group, as its new chief executive.

Berrada’s start date will be confirmed in due course. In the meantime, Patrick Stewart will continue as the club’s interim chief executive, a role he has held since November after Richard Arnold stepped down as chief executive.

As chief football operations officer for City Football Group, Berrada oversees 11 clubs – including United’s arch rival, Manchester City. His appointment at United comes after Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos Group recently completed its acquisition of a 25% stake in the club and assumed control of football operations.

United said in a statement: “The club is determined to put football and performance on the pitch back at the heart of everything we do. Omar’s appointment represents the first step on this journey.”

Spanish LaLiga club Atlético de Madrid has appointed Óscar Mayo as its new general director of revenue and operations.

Mayo joins Atlético from LaLiga, where has held several different roles since joining in 2016. Mayo has served as executive general director of LaLiga since 2021, having previously overseen business, marketing and international development.

Kansas City Current, which is set to move into the first stadium purpose-built for a National Women’s Soccer League franchise later this year, has appointed Raven Jemison as team president.

Jemison (pictured left) will oversee all business operations at KC Current as the club prepares to spend its first season at CPKC Stadium. She has spent the past three years as executive vice-president of business operations for the NBA’s Milwaukee Bucks.

Jemison’s career began in the NHL as a client services manager for the Florida Panthers. She then held roles with Major League Baseball’s Pittsburgh Pirates and the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers before joining the NBA in its team marketing and business operations department.

Allison Howard, who has served as the Current’s president for the past two seasons, has moved to a new position as advisor to the board for the team.

Virtual advertising services supplier Supponor has appointed Simon Green as its new chief executive.

Green will replace James B. Gambrell, who is stepping down from the role to become a non-executive director. Green previously served as Supponor’s chief operating officer.

Green previously worked for 10 years as managing director of BT Sport and has also had spells with Sky Sports, Fox Sports, Setanta and the Football Association.

Ticketing company AXS has appointed Vito Iaia as its new chief revenue officer.

Iaia (pictured right) will focus on the company’s largest business sector, overseeing all revenue-generating activities in North America, including business development and corporate sponsorships. He will report directly to Tom Andrus, AXS’s North America president.

Iaia most recently served as chief business officer of Major League Baseball’s Washington Nationals. He previously worked at WarnerMedia, Ticket Web, and Live Nation/Ticketmaster.
