Marylebone Cricket Club has claimed a first after partnering with SignVideo by Sorenson, which provides live and onsite British Sign Language (BSL) video interpreting in the UK.
SignVideo will provide sign language interpretation for events at Lord’s, with its video relay service to enable deaf people to buy tickets or discuss membership packages more easily. MCC staff and stewards will also be able to communicate on the spot with a deaf person through an on-demand video BSL interpreter via a mobile or tablet device.
SignVideo was founded in 2004 and joined forces with Sorenson, a leading language services provider, in 2020.
Stuart Dunlop, sustainability and accessibility manager at MCC, said: “We are very pleased to become the first cricket venue to partner with SignVideo, whose service will make it easier for members of the BSL community to communicate with the club’s staff. We hope this partnership will open up the experience of Lord’s to those who previously may not have considered visiting.”
