Gambling operator BetMGM has become the sponsor of the rail line that serves the MetLife Stadium National Football League (NFL) venue.
The three-year deal signed with NJ Transit sees the route become the BetMGM Meadowlands Rail Line. The line operates between Secaucus Junction and the Meadowlands Station adjacent to MetLife Stadium, the 82,500-capacity home of the New York Jets and New York Giants.
NJ Transit said the agreement on the naming rights is a first of its kind for the group and will add additional revenue over the course of the agreement. The program includes extensive print and digital advertising throughout the NJ Transit system
“This unique advertising partnership represents a significant new source of revenue for NJ Transit,” said Kevin S. Corbett, NJ Transit’s president and chief executive. “This new and innovative partnership is part of our continued commitment to leverage NJ Transit assets to maximise non-farebox revenue and help keep fares stable for our customers.”
BetMGM has extensive exposure in New York sports, having partnered with New York Jets soon after sports betting was decriminalised back in 2018. It is also an official sports betting partner of the New York Knicks, New York Rangers and Madison Square Garden Arena.
Matt Prevost, BetMGM’s chief revenue officer, said: “BetMGM is thrilled to announce this ground-breaking partnership with NJ Transit.
“The creation of the BetMGM Meadowlands Rail Line generates unparalleled exposure to our leading iGaming brand, through station signage and rider volume – particularly on our favourite day of the week: gameday.
“New Jersey is our home and first market, and we see today’s announcement as an extension of our strong relationship with the state.”
