Wireless networking technology company Mixhalo has announced that chief operating officer Corey Laplante will now also serve as its president, spearheading revenue and operations.

Laplante (pictured left) has been with Mixhalo since early 2019, initially joining as head of legal and working up to general counsel and vice-president of operations and then chief operating officer.

In the past 12 months, Mixhalo has signed a major global distribution deal with L-Acoustics and has also signed partnerships with NASCAR, Seattle Kraken and FC Dallas, among others.

Football-focused full-service provider NewC has announced that Frederik Riber Larsen has joined NewC Sport as a business developer.

The appointment will enhance NewC’s focus on the UK market, with Larsen to drive growth and forge partnerships with football clubs in the country.

Premier League football club Aston Villa has announced that Christian Purslow is stepping down from his position as chief executive and director.

Purslow joined Villa in September 2018, shortly after NSWE acquired a controlling interest in the club. He leaves Villa as the club plans a major redevelopment of Villa Park that would increase the stadium’s capacity to over 50,000.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s local rival, Championship club Birmingham City, is set to appoint Garry Cook as its new chief executive.

Cook was chief executive of Manchester City from May 2008 to September 2011 and will step down as executive president and chief executive of the Saudi Pro League to join Birmingham. Cook’s appointment is set to be confirmed following the completion of Tom Wagner’s takeover of the club.

The Scottish Football Association has elected Mike Mulraney as its new president.

The Alloa Athletic chairman becomes the 54th president of the SFA and replaces the outgoing Rod Petrie, who was elected in 2019.

Surrey County Cricket Club has named Oli Slipper as its next chair.

Slipper will take up the role on October 1, replacing interim chair Martin Eadon, who has held the position since September last year after Richard Thompson left Surrey to become chair of the England and Wales Cricket Club (ECB).

Slipper currently serves as executive chairman of sports marketing agency Pitch International. He has served on Surrey’s board and general committee and has been chair of the Oval Invincibles but will step down from that role with immediate effect.

ASM Global has announced the appointment of Emilia Mikkola as general manager of Helsinki’s Kulttuuritalo venue.

ASM Global was recently appointed to run operations at the venue. Mikkola (pictured right) has been heavily involved in the planning and delivery of more than 30 events and festivals across Finland and Europe, and worked as event director at Telia-owned gaming event Assembly.

Rugby Australia has appointed Phil Waugh as its new chief executive.

Waugh won 79 caps for the Australian national team and is the first former player to assume the role. He has been a non-executive director on the Rugby Australia board since July 2018 and will replace Andy Marinos as chief executive.

Marshall Glickman, acting chief executive of Euroleague Basketball, has announced that he will be stepping down from his role following the expiration of his contract on July 31.

The Euroleague Commercial Assets’ board of directors will reconvene in the next two weeks to discuss his potential future role in an advisory capacity and the next steps to retain a new chief executive for the organisation. Glickman was named acting chief executive of Euroleague Basketball in September after founder and chief executive Jordi Bertomeu left the organisation.
