The home stadium of Liga MX football club Mazatlán will take on a new name as part of a sponsorship deal with local real estate company Encanto Desarrollos.

The stadium will now be known as Estadio El Encanto as part of the deal. Encanto has an existing relationship with Mazatlán through its sponsorship of the club’s shirts.

The stadium naming-rights deal will run for five years. The stadium, which has a capacity of 25,000, first opened in July 2020.

As well as serving as the home of Mazatlán, the stadium hosts other events and staged an international friendly match between Mexico and Guatemala earlier in the year.

The stadium was previously known as ‘El Kraken’. It was developed at a reported cost of MXN700m (£32m/€37m/$39m) before opening three years ago.

Encanto Desarrollos is based in the city of Mazatlán, which is in the state of Sinaloa on the Pacific Coast.

Mazatlán is currently 12th in the Liga MX Apertura table after 14 matches. The club was formed in 2020 following the relocation of Monarcas Morelia.
