GroundWOW has been unveiled as Manchester City’s official ground printing supplier at the Etihad Stadium.
The company is based in North West England and is the creator of the world’s first autonomous full-colour stadium ground printer.
It will work at the club’s 53,400-seat venue to facilitate the printing of partner pitchside logos using robotic technology.
“We are delighted to enter into this collaboration with Manchester City, who are well known for their pioneering model when it comes to technology and innovation,” said GroundWOW’s chief commercial officer David Pritchard.
“We were given time to demonstrate the technology and [we are] proud that the outcomes we delivered have enabled a multi-year agreement with a team of Manchester City’s profile and calibre. It’s also a resounding endorsement of our team who have brought this technology to life.”
GroundWOW said such printing is often delivered in tight operational windows dictated by the playing schedule across various competitions. Operationally, there is a heavy emphasis on print that dries quickly, demonstrates significant durability and remains simple to remove when required.
GroundWOW, which won TheStadiumBusiness Innovation Award in December 2021, also works at the LNER Community Stadium in York, the English Football Association’s St. George’s Park in Burton, and Old Trafford Cricket Ground in its home city of Manchester.
The company was launched in 2015 before securing its first contract at Cheltenham Jockey Club in March 2020 despite facing challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The last two years have seen it triumph at the Football Business Awards, Stockport Business Awards, and This is Manchester Awards as well as releasing a full product range.
This range allows clients to print small-scale advertisements from nine metres by one metre up to a claimed unlimited size.
