Architectural, engineering and design practice, BDP, has stepped up its association with Lancashire Cricket by agreeing a new commercial partnership with the club.
BDP has been Lancashire Cricket’s architects since 2008 when redevelopment at Emirates Old Trafford stadium in Manchester originally commenced. The latest phase of the £60m (€68.5m/$72.8m) redevelopment will debut later this year.
Originally backed by Trafford Council in June 2021, the project includes a 1,025-seat stand, a heritage centre, a guest services hub, and a new retail store facing directly on to Brian Statham Way at the stadium.
The new stand, which replaces the Red Rose Suite, will include enhanced pitch-viewing facilities for Lancashire’s members, comprising a dual-aspect suite located within the spectator viewing terrace.
Also included within the plans is a significant expansion of the Hilton Garden Inn, with a new extension situated within the existing stadium footprint. This includes provision of a further 100 bedrooms, taking the total hotel capacity to 250 on-site while increasing the venue’s events capacity by up to 200 additional guests for conference and events.
Along with leading on this project, BDP have also assisted the club in the design and development of Lancashire’s second ground project, based in Farington – which was approved earlier this month, subject to final Government approval. The development will provide Lancashire Cricket with a ground, which includes two ovals, outdoor nets and a pavilion, that can be used throughout the year.
As part of the agreement announced today (Friday), BDP will sponsor the club’s networking event in Mumbai next week. This will take place during the Thunder team’s historic pre-season tour to India, where the squad will be based at Reliance Park, home of the Mumbai Indians.

“They have played a pivotal role in the £60m redevelopment of Emirates Old Trafford that we have seen over the past decade, and they are also working closely with us on the Farington second ground project, which was approved earlier this month, subject to final Government approval.
“We thank BDP for their support of our pre-season tour to India next week with Thunder – another historic moment for the club – as we take our professional women’s set up to Reliance Park in Mumbai for a week-long training camp.”
